Just published and to be sold by William Dunlap, near the
court-house, (price one shilling) The Lawfulness,
Excellency, and Advantage of Instrumental Musick in the
Publick Worship of God urg'd and enforc'd, from scripture
and the example of the far greater part of Christians in all
ages. Address'd to all (particularly the Presbyterians and
Baptists) who have hitherto been taught to look upon the use
of instrumental musick in the worship of good as unlawful.
By a Presbyterian.
Musick has charms to sooth the savage breast,
To soften rocks, and bent the knotted oak. [signed]
Congreve,
