Last Wednesday, at noon, his excellency Thomas Wharton,
junior, Esquire, president of the Supreme Executive Council
of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Captain-General, and
Commander in Chief in and over the same, was proclaimed at
the court-house, in the presence of a vast concourse of
people, who expressed the highest satisfaction on the
occasion, by unanimous shouts of acclamation. . . .
The bells of the city were rung, and the whole was
conducted with the utmost decency, and no accident happened
of any kind.
