commencement was held in the hall of the university in this
city, before a very crouded and polite audience, consisting
of the honourable member of congress, the members of the
supreme executive council of this state, the members of the
assembly, his excellency George Washington and his family .

The Provost, after having given a solemn and affecting
charge to the graduates concluded with prayer. A band of
music played at proper intervals; and the performances
appeared to give a general and high satisfaction to all who
heard them.
