This Advertisement is to show,
To my subscribers if they'd know,
Six months is almost o'er;
Which I have rode; therefore my wages,
I must demand from different stages,
Else I can ride no more.
I have been riding clear of gains,
Only my labour for my pains;
Expenses almost double--
To what they were when I set out,
Well you may see, I make no doubt,
I've nothing for my trouble.
My money therefore, have I must,
Whether or not you take disgust--
Without further delay.
The printers must be paid, no doubt,
Or no more papers they' give out,
Till they receive their pay.
Those in arrears for time that's past,
I now advise them for the last,
To save themselves and me,
Of further trouble-I do warn,
Delinquents not to take alarm,
When they the bailiff see.
No more my friends can I perform,
My weekly tours through cold and storm,
I tell you now in fine--
Unless more wages, not a mile,
I'll ride hereafter the old stile--
my name's [signed] James Balladine.
January 18.
