From the Lyon's Mouth.
EPIGRAMS.
As soldiers now, we do surmise,
By music dance and exercise;
So statesmen too dance in and out,
Join hands, cast off, and turn about;
Our acquisitions too, it's plain,
Have danc'd again to France and Spain,
Mov'd by the force, as some men think,
Of the sweet music of chink, chink.
Whether such military dance
First came from Germany or France;
Whether it sprung from friends or foes,
Let them who know the fact, disclose;
I can, whoever dances, say,
Old England must the piper pay.
---
When Heav'n bless'd the land with peace,
We hop'd our burthens then would cease;
But Bute has done, alas! too true,
What Bob of old could never do,
Let loose the monster, curs'd Excise!
To prey on Freedom 'till it dies.
Then Britons, take from Tax the, T,
And his desert you'll plainly see.
