New-York, November 6. Detail of the proceedings of the
Royal Army in Pennsylvania.
The action at Brandywine has greatly distinguished the
military character of General Sir William Howe.
The rebels, after having fortified Chad's Ford, prepared
to dispute the passage. The Commander in Chief ordered
General Knyphausen to cannonade them across the creek, while
he made a long march to our left and crossed a great way
above were they were least expected. Our army was formed in
order of battle in their full view, and advance, drums
beating the Grenadiers March to the attack. . . [3/4 column
more describing the action.]
