Proclamation.
I do hereby give notice to the inhabitants of the city of
Philadelphia and its environs, it is the order of his
Excellency, that "No person whatever, living within the said
city and its environs, shall appear in the streets between
the beating of the tattoo, at half an hour after eight
o'clock in the evening, and the reveillie in the morning,
without lanthorns: and all who shall be found abroad, within
the time aforesaid, will be liable to be examined by the
patroles, and confined, unless they shall give a
satisfactory account of themselves." . . .
