[London] March 21. Last night their Majesties gave the
patriotic, as well as musical world, a treat, by having
Handel's celebrated oratorio of Judas Maccabaeus, performed
by his command, at Drury-Lane.
The very great applause given to the above performance,
particularly in the songs of ---"Arm!--Arm!---ye brave!"
"Sound an alarm!" -- and all those animating parts of that
noble oration which breathes a martial spirit, shewed as if
the audience was filled with a true spirit of indignation
and resentment against our natural, and infidious enemy, and
as Judas is described, "was like a lion's whelp roaring for
its prey!"
