New-York, May 22. On Tuesday afternoon an express arrived
here from Boston with the first advice of the repeal of the
Stamp-Act; . . . [3 lines] On the arrival of this delightful
tho' long expected news, a sudden joy was immediately
diffused thro' all ranks of people in the whole city;
neighbours ran to congratulate each other, and all the bells
in town set to ringing, which continued till late at night
and began again next morning (yesterday) continuing till 9
o'clock.
