Extract of a letter from Stockholm, Jan. 22. His Majesty,
willing to introduce the fine arts in this country, has
ordered, that an academy of music be erected here, which is
to opened for the public. He has granted a lottery to be
drawn twice every year which shall be employed to the
support of that academy. The society have put a question.
Whether the encouragement of the lewd spirit of gambling be
not more detrimental to the state than ever it could be
benefitted by the success of the fine arts?
