OBSERVATIONS ON MODERN EDUCATION.
[Several paragraphs describing a visit to a friend's home,
where the qualities of their children are demonstrated over
the objection on the guest]
The prejudices of parents to their offspring is pardonable;
but I have frequently been hurried away from an excellent
glass of wine to indulge a fond father, in hearing his
daughter squall for an hour to a forte-piano out of tune,
without even experience sufficient to strike a right key.
Example in every situation of life, is the best preceptor.
