Paris, April 24, 1780. An American officer was yesterday at
the opera, in company with Dr. Franklin's grandson. They
sat in a front box. The pitt paid great attention to him;
but between the acts the name of Paul Jones having passed
from mouth to mouth, great applause resounded immediately.--
The officer to whom they were addressed, could not mistake
their object. It was Commodore Paul Jones himself, whom the
pitt and boxes received in this distinguished manner. At
going out, the passage was crowded with multitudes, who
wished to have a nearer view of him, and their applauses
continued till he got in his coach.
