We are informed from undoubted authority, that the ladies of Charles-Town, since the capture of that place, have uniformly refused to associate with the British officers, or to attend any of their assemblies, or places of public amusement, and having been reduced to the necessity of selling their buckles for a subsistence, they now wear black and white roses in their shoes, in honour of the alliance. |
