London, February 8. The late unfortunate Major Andre had a
turn for theatrical amusements, as well as painting, both
which he displayed at the theatre, at New-York, a few weeks
before his execution; where he not only played the part of
Mr. Carmine, in Foote's comedy of Taste, with great ease and
spirit; but during the performance of the celebrated scene
between him and Lady Pentweazle, actually coloured a most
striking portrait of the gentleman, who performed the
latter, to the astonishment of all their military
acquaintance.
