Edinburgh, January 10. Extract of a letter from Perth, Jan.

Last night the Duke of Athole, with Major M'Bane on his
right, and Col. Brown on his left hand made a public
procession through this town, beginning at Marshall's inn,
where a hogshead of porter, and about 30 flambeaux were
waiting them in the street. Major M'Bane drank the first
toast, which was, Success to the Athole Highlanders, . . .

The procession was attended with a bag-pipe and drum, and a
great multitude of people. His Grace appeared in the
highland dress, and had a red feather in his bonnet. This
day at ten o'clock, another procession was made through this
place in form of a recruiting party, in the following order:
first four Serjeants, in highland dress, with drums and
pipes, and a great number of recruits; . . . They beat up at
four different places, and, upon the whole, made a grand
appearance.
