The suppression of the theatrical entertainments, formerly
recommended by Congress, to which we would add, horse-
racing, gaming and other diversions, productive of idleness
and dissipation of manners, seem to us to claim the notice
of the representatives of an undepraved and aeconomical
people. Duelling, that resource of mis-applied courage, so
dangerous to the peace of families and society, has lately
grown so much into practice, that it may justly claim a
share of your notice and censure. . .
