Charles-Town. June 5. Yesterday being the anniversary of his
Majesty's Birth-day, it was observed here with every mark of
respect. In the morning an elegant public breakfast was
given at the State-house by the gentlemen of the Irish
Friendly Society, at twelve o'clock the cannon round the
lines were fired, accompanied by three vollies from the
troops in garrison, and at one the shipping in the harbour
saluted; the chimes played through the day, in the evening
the town was very generally illuminated, and the night
concluded with every appearance of joy and festivity.
