[The following poem is a Postscript to a letter to the
King's Printer, from A Puppy.]
POSTCRIPT.
Colonel Puppy sends greeting to General Nimrod,
And hails the companion of staggering Bob;
He prays his attention, and hopes for to find,
His rancour relenting, himself grow more kind;
Nor snap at poor puppies, who meant him no harm,
Nor e'er form'd a wish, his great pen to alarm;
. . . [19 more lines, signed: By Order of his honour, The
Puppy. Staggering James, Sec'ry.]
