The following is a prophecy of Dr. John Cofin Bishop of
Durham in the reign of Charles the Second, as it immediately
respects the rise and extinction of the present Rebellion,
with the restoration of the old Constitution in these
Colonies: we are desired to present it to the reader--Thus
it runs:
When a branch of the thistle gets o'er the Atlantic,
And in a new world the seed shall be planted,
And when it doth arise to a degree of perfection
It surely will breed a great insurrection.
