PROLOGUE TO THE TRAGEDY OF THE REVENGE.
When winter seized proud Bellona's charms,
No more with rugged voice she sounds to arms,
Beholds her hardy sons forget their toils,
And, skill'd in arts, enjoy Thalia's, smiles.

* The speaker draws his sword. The music in the orchestra
strike the dirge. The trap doors of the stage descend and
yawn forth the ghosts of the soldiers martialled by the
great spirits of the officers, who have fallen . . .
Last scene. Music plays Britons strike home. Boston
appears in flames, the Royal Army extirpating the impious
race . . .
[At end:] The speaker having ended the prologue, salutes
the audience with his sword, and retires with it unsheathed.
