A relation of terrifying and unaccountable noises and other
disturbances. There is a story of the memorable Joseph
Collins of Oxford, otherwise called Funny Joe, which has
something of humour and mischief in it, pertinent enough to
the occasion, which was this: . . . [1 and 1/3 columns long
describing how Mr. Collins terrified people at the Woodstock
manor house of the recently murdered Charles I] The
neighbours on this, as has been said, being all alarmed,
flocked to the house in great numbers, and all joined in
prayer and psalm-singing; . . . [but the noises continued at
that particular time]
