London, May 17. Mr. Foote opened his theatre for the summer
season on Monday last to a very crowded house with The Devil
Upon Two Sticks, in which that admirable humourist
introduced several temporary strokes of satire that gave
great satisfaction. Mrs. Arthur from Bath and Mr. Sparks,
the celebrated lord chief joker from Dublin, made their
first appearance that night and gave great proofs of their
being possessed of no small share of theatrical merit.
