Citation | SCAGG.770.040 22-29 Jun 1770:32 (13/611) London, April 21. Wednesday night a great number of sailors passed through Wapping with a figure of Lord Bute dressed in a plaid bonnet and a bagpipe under his arm and in his right hand a petticoat. After diverting themselves for some time in the streets they went in boats down the river, and entering a Scots ship, a fray ensued. Many on both sides were terribly bruised, but we do not hear of any lives being lost. |
