Naples, August 10. . . On the 8th instant Don Carlos enter'd
Gaeta in triumph, and repair'd immediately to the Great
Church, to assist at the Te Deum which was singing there.
The Imperial Garrison was the same day conducted out of the
town with the usual military honours; but being arriv'd at
the trenches, the soldiers were oblig'd to surrender up the
arms, and themselves prisoners of war. . . Our letters add,
that as soon as the garrison began to beat the Chamade, Don
Carlos took a rich cockade from his hat, and put it upon
that of the young Chevalier de St. George. The capitulation
of Pescara was in the same terms as that of Gaeta. . .
