From Edinburgh, that the late affair of hanging Captain
Porteous, it seems, has ended very quietly here, how far an
enquiry may agitate the matter, we can't yet tell, but, it
seems, by what they write, that they know very little of the
matter, for the multitude that performed this notable
mischief, came like Bay's Army in the Rehearsal, in a sort
of disguise, out of the country, they knew not where, and
took possession of the city. Afterwards they march'd by
beat of drum, seiz'd the gates, disarm'd the guards, and
then went and took the prisoner, . . .
