On Tuesday they began to beat up for marines upon the ice on the Thames, when parading thro' the several streets in Frost Fair at Whitehall, and from thence to Somerset-stairs, they pick'd up several idle young fellows, who had nothing in their pockets but their hands to preserve them from the cold. |
