On Monday night, a Methodist preacher, who was preaching in
Marybon Fields, making air of expressions reflecting on
Archbishop Tillotson, and the Whole Duty of Man, telling the
people they might as safely read plays, or profane books, as
the Whole Duty of Man, or Tillotson's works, the audience
resented it so highly, that he with much difficulty escap'd
in a hackney coach, which was almost broke to pieces by the
mob throwing stones and brickbats at it.
