The Catawba's Answer to his Excellency's speech inserted in

We desire your Excellency will give us a drum, and
likewise a flag, that we may be able to shew to the
Virginians and other white people that come amongst us as a
toke on our friendship to the English. . . [7 lines]
After this the King and Headmen of Catawba's dined with
his Excellency. After dinner several healths were drank,
and the guns were fired after each health; and sometime
thereafter they entertained his Excellency with a War Dance.
Next morning his Excellency set out for Ninety-Six.
