[Letter from the master of the Free-School at Beresford's
Bounty, asking why they are advertising for a master, while
he still performs that duty]
surely something must be the matter, . . . it has a kind of
allusion to a line of a good old song, with a very ancient
chorus, to it, "'Tis this and that, and they cannot tell
what;" tho' at present I am not in a singing mood, because
it has a meaning or tendency, that my actions must have been
quite the reverse.
