Ye sons of Parnass, and ye daughters also,
Who would purchase the goods of Acrostic, & Co.
Be it known to the gay, the learned and witty,
That there is arrived in Charles-Town City,
A mill to grind verses, by my sole direction,
Which the poets allow has the greatest perfection;
By expanding the top, and revolving a peg,
+ I can grind ninety verses, and stand on one leg.
Without fee or reward I grind for the poor,
But others must pay me a penny an hour;
Ye citizens then, observe what's a doing,
And purchase my meal whilst my mill is a going.
+ Alluding to a passage in Horace.
