By Authority. On Saturday evening next, the Thirtieth of
this instant, January, and on Monday and Wednesday
following, the celebrated Mr. Saunders will exhibit his
Dexterity and Grand Deception, in Mr. Stotherd's Long Room
behind the Beef-Market Third-Street.
He has had the honour of performing before his Excellency
the Earl of Dunmore, Governor of Virginia; his Excellency
Robert Eden, Esq; Governor of Maryland; the Honourable
Richard Penn, Esquire, Governor of Pennsylvania; and most of
the nobility and gentry in Great-Britain, Ireland and
America, and in particular in the capital cities.--- He
performs a variety of new, astonishing and entertaining
performances, by dexterity of hand, surpassing every thing
of the kind that has hitherto been seen, or attempted, on
this side of the Atlantic, which will be exhibited in a
number of surprising instances, deceiving the eye of the
nicest observer, and appear in a manner supernatural. Mr.
Saunders has been honoured with the greatest public
applause, by all the nobility that have seen his great
performances in Europe, America, and the West Indies; and is
allowed to be the most astonishing proficient in the art of
clean conveyance, that ever attempted an exhibition of its
kind, without descending to the low tricks of cups and
balls, ribbons, &c. &c.
Tickets, at One Dollar each (without which no person can be
admitted) may be had at the place of performance.
To open each evening at six o'clock, and to begin at seven.
N.B. Those who are desirous of having private performances
at their own houses (on the days that he has not advertised
to exhibit in public) Shall be waited on by giving a day's
notice.
* * * It will be esteemed a particular favour, if those who
apply for tickets will bring Dollars with them, by doing of
which the delay, in giving of change, will be avoided.
