London, April 8. Monday night the Premier received
intelligence, that a great number of the Spital-Fields
weavers intended to honour his Lordship with a visit the
next day in Downing-Street; he immediately issued summonses
to all the peace-officers of Westminster to attend, to
prevent a riot. A company of the guards was also ordered to
be in readiness, of which the weavers being informed, they
desisted from their intended visit, though they had
assembled for the purpose by five o'clock the next morning
by beat of the drum.
