To the Public. Whereas it has been proved to the Committee
for Norfolk borough, that I did in the presence of Lord
Dunmore and in open disrespect to the good people of this
country, point out to the soldiery at Gosport, a certain
Alexander Main, fifer to one of the volunteer companies of
this borough, as a person who ought to be apprehended for
his impudence; . . . for appearing in our presence habited
in a hunting shirt, by which means the unhappy man was taken
into custody and confined for some time; . . . 4 lines of
apology]
[signed] John Schaw.
