A subscription having been set on foot for the purpose of
instituting Assemblies in this city, during the winter
season, the subscribers met on Saturday last, and proceeded
to appoint the necessary officers to conduct and draw up
regulations for the government of the same, which was
accordingly done; and we have the satisfaction to assure our
readers, that it seems to merit the approbation of all, and
has every tendency to promote that social mirth, so
essential for the good of society. The Assemblies are to be
once a fortnight, and the first to commence on Thursday the
23d instant.
