Fifteen pounds reward. Run away from the subscriber living
in King William county, two Negroes: One a fellow named
James, about 30 years of age, very black, tall and keen
made, his jaw teeth are out, is remarkable fond of singing,
and has relations in Amelia and Albemarle; perhaps he made
endeavour to get to one of those places, and pass as a free
man. He left me in the year 1781, just after the siege of
York. The other a lad named Martin. . . [6 lines] Whoever
will take up the said Negroes and deliver them to me, or
secure them so that I get them again, shall receive the
above reward, or ten pounds for the delivery of James and
five for Martin. [signed] Fendall Southerland.
