London. . . Sept. 28. We hear from Tunbridge Wells, that a
treaty of mrrriage [=marriage] is on foot, and will in a few
days be consummated between Mr. Johnson an eminent master of
musick of that place, and Miss Hill, niece to Metcalfe Ashe,
Esq; master of the Long Room there, who is to give her a
fortune of 5000 L. . . .
We hear, that Esq; Ashe, will give a most splendid ball,
and an elegant entertainment of this occasion, which the
masters of the Sussex and Gloucester taverns have orders to
