Portsmouth [Virginia], May 20. Doctor David Purcel,
president, at a general meeting of the principal inhabitants
of this town, was celebrated with the greatest harmony,
friendship, and joy, on the happy accomodation of all
differences between Great Britain and her colonies. After
dining in the Common Hall, the following toasts were drunk,
under a discharge of many cannon, display of colours, sound
of trumpets, French-horns, and drums, with bonfires and
illuminations. The whole was conducted with the utmost
order and decorum. . . [20 toasts]
