Norfolk, August 29, 1768. . . [personal dispute concerning
Doctors' management of patients with smallpox, and
inoculations against smallpox] . . . Before we got out of
the house I heard a drum beating almost opposite to my door,
when Mr. James Taylor, a magistrate (who just then came up)
and myself, ordered that the drum should be stopped, which
was immediately obeyed, there being only two or three boys
with it, and one man a little before, I think.
