Boston. . . October 3 . . . [Arrival of British fleet from
Halifax, with 1000 men of the 14th, 29th, 59th regiments
plus Royal Artillery and grenadiers.] On Thursday the
boats from the fleet came up and sounded the bay all round
the town, and on Friday the ships of war came up and ranged
themselves on the north east side of the metropolis, as if
intended for a formal siege; and about noon on Saturday, the
14th Regiment landed at the Long Wharf, and having formed
marched, with drums beating, fifes playing, and colours
flying. . .
