The following anecdote, the truth of which may be depended
on, will show in what manner the inhabitants of the
metropolis of Dublin look upon some proceedings on this side
the water. The latter end of this spring the tragedy of
Coriolanus being performed at Crow street, when Mr. Sparks,
who played the first Citizen, came to the following speech,
You all know, my friends, that Caius Martius is the chief
enemy of the people, he was interrupted by a gentleman, who
started up in the pit, and cried, with a loud voice, No! No!
Luttrell! which has such an effect that the play was
stopped for some time, and the whole audience expressed
their satisfaction by repeated plaudits and three huzzas.
