Boston, March 12 . . . [report of massacre]  The people were
immediately alarmed with the report of this horrid massacre;
the bells were set a ringing, and great numbers soon
assembled at the place where this tragical scene had been
acted . . .  [1 column, troops ordered out of town, funeral
procession]  On this occasion most of the shops in town were
shut, all the bells were ordered to toll a solemn peal, as
were also those in the neighbouring towns of Charlestown,
Roxbury, &c. . .
