Citation | VGW(HU.770.045 30 Aug 1770:22 (1006) London, June 13. An arch wag milk'd (as they call it) the Duke of Cumberland, at Rochester, of five guineas, saying he came from the bell ringers, who had rung all the morning. The Duke answered, he had not heard them; to which the fellow replied, we can't ring now, as prayers are beginning; soon as they are over we begin again. Long before this he knew the Duke would be gone. |
