New York, May 27. The new Farce of Cross Purposes, to be
performed to-morrow, was written by William O'Brien,
Esquire, formerly of Drury Lane Theatre; a gentleman who,
with his amiable consort, Lady Susan, daughter of the Right
Honourable the Earl of Ilchester, resided several years in
this city. "The piece has a good deal of the Vis Comica, is
altogether a laughable, lively production, and, from the
temporary satire upon the reigning follies and vices of the
times, will probably have a run."
