London, October 26. The newspapers and playhouses will
certainly feel the effects of the Parliament's not meeting
till the middle of January. . . The playhouses already most
wofully experience the want of a numerous company in town,
and the scarcity of money felt by those few who are in
London. Albumazar is allowed to be an excellent comedy; and
yet was performed on Thursday evening, and for the second
time only, to empty boxes.
Elfrida, and She Stoops to Conquer, were last year
favourites with the town. At their first representation
this season, they have drawn but scanty audiences.
