Index Entry | Opera House, in London, no masquerades to be held next season |
Location | London |
Citation | VGW(HU.774.039 10 Mar 1774:22 (1170) London, December 10. A great personage has expressed so great an abhorrence to Masquerades that the proprietor of the Opera House, in respect to him, has declared he will have none at his house next year; and, if so, no doubt but the Pantheon will follow their laudable example. To extirpate this scandalous amusement from among us cannot be too much applauded, which is pregnant with every evil destructive to society, and a reproach to our police. |
