Philadelphia, June 6. Wednesday last, being the first day
of June, when the cruel Act for blocking up the harbour of
Boston took effect, many of the inhabitants of this city, to
express their sympathy for their brethren suffering in the
common cause, shut up their houses and shops; the bells of
Christ Church were muffled, and rung a common peal; the
colours of the vessels in the harbour were hoisted half mast
