London, Oct. 3 . . . On the French Actors opening (and at
the same time shutting up) with the play intituled,
L'Embarras des Richesses; or, The Trouble which Riches Bring
Along with Them.
Zealous for Britain, and to teach it sense,
The Gallick play'rs came o'er, --not for the pence,
And as first trials oft give projects health,
Wisely they opened with The Plague of Wealth,
The grateful Britons, conscious what they ow'd,
For unsought favours with such grace bestow'd;
To prove they lik'd the donors wholsome lore,
Return'd them, cashless, to their native shore.
