London, May 8. . . Yesterday morning the Rev. Mr. Whitfield
preach'd at Wapping-Chappel, and collected 12 l. for the
benefit of the orphan-house in Georgia. In the evening he
preach'd at Kennington-Common to about 20, 000 people, among
whom were near 40 coaches, besides chaises, and about 100 on
horseback; and tho' there was so great a multitude, and
awful silence was kept during the whole time of singing,
prayers, and sermon. This evening at six o'clock, he is to
preach at the same place again; to-morrow at seven o'clock
at Kennington-Common aforesaid.
