Extract of a letter from an eminent merchant in the city of
Philadelphia, to his correspondent at Fredericksburg, May
14, 1775.
An express arrived here yesterday from New York, for the
opinion of the Congress whether they should oppose the
landing of the troops at that place. We have nothing here
but drums, fifes, &c. &c. Thirty companies of foot and two
