Dialogue between Sir John Spendthrift; his brother Charles,
an Oxonian; and Harry Clincher, an Attorney, in a borough
town, for which Sir John is a Candidate. . . [2 1/2 columns
(page is cut with text loss)]
Sir J. Adieu, thou sneaking foul piece of borough-craft:
That fellow, without the least spark of honesty, or one
grain of humanity in his heart, I am told, goes to church
twice every Sunday, reads and sings psalms longer than all
the congregation; rolls his eyes in prayer, and makes his
responses with a voice which drowns the rest. With all my
faults, I thank heaven, I am not that base hypocrite.
